Lovy is from the near capital region of India. From a young age, she had a great interest in Mathematics. Her interest and excellence in Mathematics paved her path to her further studies in the same field. She completed her Bachelor’s from Maharshi Dayanand University and went on to pursue a Master’s degree from South Asian University, Delhi. She graduated with a specialization in Applied Mathematics and related programming. Her Master’s thesis was in the “Numerical Methods for Solving Elliptic and Parabolic Partial Differential Equations”. She used particularly Finite Element Method and some weighted residual methods in this and wrote a program in MATLAB for the same. With this work, she got deep knowledge of using Finite Element Method over a variety of equations. Her indulgence and craving to do more in some of the related topics have brought her to the exciting area of numerical PDEs. During her tenure at IITB-Monash Research Academy, Lovy will be researching the use of Hybrid Higher-Order Methods. Her project is titled “Pushing the limits of hybrid high-order schemes in case of non-regular models”. She will be guided by Prof. Neela Natraj from IIT Bombay as well as by Prof. Jerome Droniou from Monash University. Apart from research, she endeavours upon writing short stories and poems. Also, she is interested in understanding and guiding psychology.
