Nithypriya.B completed her B.E in Civil Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore in May 2014. She did her final year project on ‘Utilisation of recycled carpet wastes as soil reinforcement’ in Deakin University, Waurnponds, Australia. She was awarded the overall Best Outgoing Student (KOORATHALAWAR) award of PSG Tech for the academic year 2010-2014. She completed her M.Tech in Remote Sensing and GIS from National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal in July 2016. Her master’s research work is in ‘Coastal inundation study using Support Vector Machine in Remote Sensing’, under the guidance of Dr.G.S.Dwarakish, Professor & Head, Department of Applied Mechanics and Hydraulics. The project deals about the vulnerability and adaptive capacity of the coastal ecosystem to sea level rise which is the outcome of change in climate. Soft computing algorithm named Support Vector Machine (SVM) has been used effectively in this study. She have undergone a summer internship programme in Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun and worked on ‘Annual and Seasonal variation of Aerosol Index over Indian Region using Aura – Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) data’. During her Master’s, she participated in many National & International conferences and have five papers to her credit and one journal paper is under revision to be published in Journal of Ocean Engineering and Science (JOES), Elsevier Publication. Her research interests includes: Optical & Microwave Remote Sensing, Soft Computing Techniques, Image Processing and Geographical Information System (GIS). At IITB-Monash Research academy she will be working under the guidance of Dr. Y.S.Rao (IITB) and Dr. Jeff walker (Monash University) under the area of ‘Soil moisture mapping and validation using EOS data’. Her interests are travelling, listening to songs, gardening and interacting with new people.
