Kamal did his B.E. (Hons) from the Birla Institute of Technological Sciences, Pilani in the field of Biotechnology. Since then, he has obtained two Master’s degrees: The first from Glasgow Caledonian University in the field of Clinical Microbiology, and the second from the University of Goettingen in Microbiology and Biochemistry. During the course of his higher studies, he also qualified in several national level entrance examinations, such as: GATE Biotechnology (2011 – AIR: 151), GATE Life Sciences (2013 – AIR: 562), CSIR-UGC NET (2013 – JRF AIR: 67) and ICMR (2016 – AIR: 01), along with a (308/340) in GRE (2011).
He is currently enrolled at the IITb-Monash Academy for the project titled “Exploring the adhesive property of sickle cell for improved diagnosis” under the supervision of Prof. Debjani Paul (IIT Bombay) and Prof. Tuncay Alan (Monash University). Given that his primary goal is to understand the dynamics of the human body and its maladies, his areas of interest include clinical sciences, and medical diagnostics. Apart from that, he is interested in playing badminton, reading astronomy, and inquiries into the paranormal.
